The importance of the arts

Seeing Shepparton host a world-class event such as White Night shows that we are now seen as contenders in the Victorian Arts scene. With an influx of visitors to the city for the spectacular show, we can see how such events offer a cash injection to small businesses and creates a sense of pride in our community. I was heartened to see the Yorta Yorta totem, the long-necked turtle projected in lights across the lake. We need to continue leading the way in the arts space and coming up with innovative ways to showcase our local talent and history.
