16 Days of Activism launch

By Taylah Baker

The Greater Shepparton Family Violence Prevention Network celebrated its launch of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gendered Violence campaign on Friday at Shepparton Art Museum.

The global campaign raises awareness of the prevalence, impact and drivers of gendered violence, and celebrates the achievements and progress in working towards a society free of gender inequity.

This year the theme ‘Respect #CallitOut’ encourages local community members to think about the role individuals and organisations can have in promoting gender equality.

An open invite was made for community members to attend the ‘Through a Worker’s Eyes’ luncheon to launch the beginning of the 16 Days of Activism campaign and support the GSFVPN.

Speakers from local organisations working within the prevention, response and recovery sectors shared their insights and experiences of the importance of primary prevention education, organisational responses to community members impacted by gender-based violence and supporting survivors in their recovery journey.

The GSFVPN invites everyone in the Greater Shepparton community to get involved in the 16 Days of Activism campaign and continue the conversation beyond and into the future.

Further information on the 16 Days of Activism campaign can be found on the GSFVPN Facebook page.
